Marketing to the 50-plus

The place to meet other 50-plus marketers

Just because you can doesn’t mean you should. It took me less than 30 mins to set-up this Web site but was that 30 mins I could have been doing something more constructive, like cooking breakfast?

I don’t know – what do you think? Is ‘social networking’ the fastest way of wasting precious minutes of life or gift that can really enhance our personal and business life?

Any ideas?

Like most everything else, it depends on what you want to get out of it. :-)

For example, I've found some niche-focused sites to be invaluable (I've made VERY useful business contacts on LinkedIn.com, for instance). And my biker site at TheBikerWeb.com has led to some good friendships, and some new riding buddies on the weekends.

Dan - thanks for your comment. I think you have hit the nail on the head. It is all about the focus of the social network. My concern is that is the age of the person enough of focus for a social networking site? Have a look at my blog today (16 March) yet another portal/social networking site has hit the web.

I don't think I have the time to do very much with this Ning site. My interest was to test the site as a Web tool. So far I have been very impressed.
